Telemedicine for Mental Health

Telemedicine (Telemed, Telehealth) involves the use of electronic communication to enable patients access to care without having to attend sessions in their healthcare providers office.  This use of technology allows patients to access a licensed mental healthcare provider and discuss symptoms, treatment and plan of care.  The visit will be similar to an in-person visit with respect to safety, security and privacy.  Telehealth improves the access to care while having the flexibility and convenience of appointments in your home.

This service is allowable and effective for psychiatric and mental health services and is performed by live two-way audio and visual communication.  Electronic systems used will incorporate network and software security protocols to protect the confidentiality of the patient identification and data and will include measures to safeguard the data and to ensure integrity against intentional or unintentional corruption.
